Elephant insider tour at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Have you ever seen an elephant get a pedicure? No, it’s not a riddle or the title of a quirky new children’s book. I’m serious. Have you? I recently experienced the new Elephant Insider Tour at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and learned how elephant pedicures are done.
During the tour, you go into a special elephant interaction area where you meet with trainers who care for Busch Gardens’ elephants on a daily basis. Through the use of well-placed doors on a unique gate at the facility, the trainers can interact with the elephants and take care of all their medical needs. We learned about how the elephants are trained to help with this through positive reinforcement:
The Elephant Insider Tour at Busch Gardens takes you close to the elephants’ actual habitat, where you can get great pictures and see them interacting with each other, too. The trainers took a lot of time to answer everyone’s questions about these magnificent animals.
The whole tour lasts about 45 minutes. If you are interested in elephants or in getting closer to some of the animals (and trainers) at Busch Gardens, I recommend this tour. You can book the Elephant insider Tour online in advance for $19.95 per person, or you can check for same-day availability by visiting the Adventure Tour Center in the Moroccan Village area during your day at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Only ages 10 and up can experience this tour.
My Elephant Insider Tour experience was comped as part of a weekend-long tour for journalists sponsored by SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment.
