Toss your coins in Six Flags’ fountains to benefit Give Kids the World

Now through Nov. 1, the money theme park visitors toss into those fountains will go to Give Kids the World Village.

So when your pocket or purse gets heavy during a fun day at Six Flags, head to the fountain and lighten your load. You’ll be tired enough walking around the park all day. You don’t need to carry the extra weight of all those coins around, too.

Give Kids the World Village is a magical place in Central Florida that provides an unforgettable vacation for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. It is truly an incredible place and Theme Park Mom’s favorite charity.

What? You aren’t going to Six Flags anytime soon? Don’t worry, I’ve still got you covered. Donate your spare change here, on my Firstgiving.org fundraising page. All donations go straight to Give Kids the World Village.

Why I love Give Kids the World

As many of you know, I hosted a Hebrew National Picnics With a Purpose this past weekend in Orlando. My chosen purpose for the picnic was Give Kids the World. This charity does amazing work with sick kids — bringing them to Central Florida for an unforgettable family trip.

My friend Jenn of Mommy Needs Coffee shot this video interview during the picnic with John Frost, a representative from Give Kids the World. John gives a great summary of the magical things that happen everyday at the Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee:

I hope you’ll take some time to look at the Give Kids the World Web site. There are plenty of opportunities to help, both big and small.

Orlando’s Picnic With a Purpose was awesome!

I am still on a high from all the fun I had with family and friends yesterday at the Hebrew National Picnic With a Purpose in Orlando! It was a gorgeous Florida day, although some really gusty wind came around to make things interesting — especially when we pulled out the paint!

I need to send much love and appreciation to Hebrew National for sponsoring such a great event. And for sending us lots of yummy high-quality, all-beef hot dogs, which my husband grilled up for the dozens of people who came! (more…)

You’re invited to a Picnic With a Purpose!

As my daughter starts to count the days until summer vacation, my thoughts are turning to our plans for the summer and how to be sure we set aside some quality time with our family and friends.

That’s why I’m thrilled to be partnering with Hebrew National to host a fun “Picnic with a Purpose” this Saturday in Orlando. We’re going to be grilling some Hebrew National kosher beef hot dogs Saturday evening, along with all the picnic fixings, like coleslaw, fresh fruit and chips and dip.

I’ve always been a fan of Hebrew National because there’s no mystery meat in their hot dogs. I’m reminded here of John Candy’s description of hot dogs from “The Great Outdoors.” “You know what they’re made of, Chet?” This is a PG-rated blog, so I can’t share the next line, but it’s here via imdb. And since I like to be confident that there’s none of that in my hot dogs, I’ve always been comfortable with HN dogs. The company says they do not contain any fillers or by-products. (more…)
