Huggies Pull-Ups feature Toy Story 3 and Princess and the Frog characters

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Is there someone in your family who has some “famous” sayings that the rest of the family quotes? In my family, we have “Nana-isms.”

My personal favorite is “I don’t buy green bananas.” It’s her way of saying we don’t know what tomorrow holds, and we don’t know if we’ll be around long enough for the bananas to ripen.

When my daughter was peeing in her pantspotty-training, I heard another “Nana-ism” that she uses on all parents of preschool-age kids: “No kid ever went to kindergarten wearing diapers.”

And she was right. My daughter did eventually learn to use the potty. But during that time, Huggies Pull-Ups became a staple in our house. My daughter could pull them up and down herself when she went to the bathroom, and they kept her clothing dry without leaking when she didn’t make it in time.

This summer, Pull-Ups Learning Designs training pants are featuring some familiar characters to Disney fans – Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story 3 for boys and Tiana from Princess and the Frog for girls. There are some great tools online – like coloring pages, calendars and reward stickers – at Disney.com/BigKid to make starting the potty-training adventure more fun.

And packages of Pull-Ups even have a code that you can enter online to get a phone call from Woody or Tiana.

A Fairytale Friday Night

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Once upon a time,

in a Magical Kingdom…

There was a tea party.

Little princesses from near and far

Gathered their mothers and donned their tiaras.

They made new friends…

To dance and play with.

The cameras rolled

To welcome a new princess.

And a talk-show princess came, too…

To make some special little girls’ dreams come true.

Magical fireworks lit up the skies…

And all was right with the world.

Walt Disney World invited my daughter and me to a mother-daughter tea party and taping for the Tyra Banks Show Friday night at the Magic Kingdom. We had sweet treats and lots of fun at Swan Boat Landing, where we got to visit with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen from the new Disney movie, “The Princess and the Frog.”

We also took the time to reflect on Disney’s first African-American princess, and how important it is to have strong, diverse female role models for our daughters.

And, after lots of practice, we got to hoot and holler when Tyra Banks herself arrived. She was dressed casually in jeans and a polo, but her shoes were, as she would say, fierce!

Tyra watched the fireworks with three very deserving little girls who had been treated to an ultimate princess experience at Walt Disney World. You can see their stories on the Tyra Banks Show this Wednesday, Nov. 25.

When you watch, keep an eye out for me, Stefanie, Lorraine and our daughters!

The Princess and the Frog opens in movie theaters on Dec. 11.

If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland over the holidays, you can see Tiana in a new show, complete with jazz music from the city where “The Princess and the Frog” is set, New Orleans. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that a new show called Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee will debut Oct. 26 at Walt Disney World and Nov. 6 at Disneyland.
